The Paralegal is a vital resource in the legal department who will assist attorney(s) with an array of legal and administrative matters and support the legal department and company as a whole.

Responsibilities

  • Working knowledge and experience in a broad range of substantive areas with a strong focus on litigation management and contracts. Intellectual property portfolio management is a plus but not required.
  • For litigation management, in consultation with internal counsel, the Paralegal will engage in all aspects of case management, including, but not limited to:
  • monitor and track litigation, including preparing and providing timely reports to internal stakeholders;
  • review and respond to legal demands including discovery and third-party subpoenas and coordinate cross functionally to obtain responsive documents;
  • review complaints and subpoenas to identify pertinent document categories to preserve;
  • draft, issue and track litigation hold notices and ensure appropriate timing for release of hold notices;
  • Draft, review, and redline contracts (i.e., Vendor Agreements, MSA/SOW’s, Supply Agreements, Non-Disclosure Agreements, etc.) and basic legal documents including releases under attorney supervision and facilitate the finalization and execution of the same.
  • In conjunction with internal and external counsel and other paralegals, the Paralegal may assist in overseeing a broad portfolio of patents and trademarks.
  • Effectively and timely communicate with internal and external stakeholders, including leadership, outside counsel, courts, government agencies, etc.
  • Professionally and timely draft email and other communications internally and externally
  • Participate in and lead regular meetings, both virtually and in person
  • Research statutes, regulations and other legal sources and provide written analysis to attorneys as may be needed
  • Review and update legal and administrative documents, including policies
  • review legal invoices to ensure adherence to agreed rates and budget requirements and process once approved by applicable attorney, including tracking ongoing budgets on a matter-by-matter basis, and engaging in monthly accruals.
  • Assist in other matters as required, including but not limited to, bankruptcy, retailer matters, and complaint handling.

Qualifications

 

  • Associate's degree in paralegal studies or related field required, bachelor's degree in paralegal studies or related field preferred.
  • Paralegal certificate preferred.
  • At least 5 years of paralegal experience preferred, including at least 2 years in an in-house legal department.
  • Must have expertise with all facets of Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel, Power Point, Teams, and related software
  • Proficiency with Contract Lifecycle Management software a plus.
  • Excellent organizational, interpersonal and communication (written/oral) skills, with proven ability to develop effective relationships at all levels
  • Must be highly organized with a keen attention to detail
  • Must be able to hit the ground running with minimal supervision and handle matters collaboratively and proactively
  • Must have a sense of urgency
  • Able to effectively manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment
  • Exceptional time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and exercise discretion and sound judgment
  • Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
  • Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times.
